Taylor’s Mill Bridals | Mary

What happens when you go to a 1920’s textile factory for a bridal portrait session?

Pure magic! I met with Mary and her mother for her bridal session in mid-summer at Taylors Mill right outside of Greenville, SC. We weren’t surprised at all by the heat and humidity we were hit with that day. With its huge windows and original hardwood floors, Taylors Mill is a perfect location for a modern grunge styled bridal session. But unfortunately all that rustic Southern charm doesn’t include air conditioning!

Even with the heat we still had a great time wandering the upper floors of the mill. Mary’s dress from The Dress Bridal Boutique was absolutely gorgeous and fit her perfectly. Did you know you can use the day of your bridal portraits to do a trial run for your hair and makeup? Blend Salon did a great job for Mary’s hair and makeup! But, after fighting with the humidity for a while, she and her mother decided it may be best to wear her hair up for the wedding.

Pro-tip:

It’s a great idea to have these oil absorbing sheets during a photo shoot. They’re great for reducing shine from oil and sweat and won’t ruin your makeup! I always carry some in my gear bag just in case.

I love the look we achieved from blending Mary’s beautifully detailed gown with the stark contrast of the empty factory floor. When we made our way outside, I took them over to a giant wall of windows that I had noticed while driving in. The windows had once been painted over and are now chipped and faded. It creates a really cool texture and turned out to be one of my favorite spots of the day!

I wrapped up the day by grabbing a cold beer at 13 Stripes Brewery before heading home. Definitely a new favorite location for bridals!
